I planned to visit the African Continent for my 60th Birthday.
But then I thought
'No time like the present'!

I am feeling so blessed and grateful that my husband, Markus and my sister, Paula, and I were able to enjoy Africa this August 2026. We viisited Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town. It was two weeks of Shakalaka (spicy, delicious beans), Braai (good ol home barbecue) tropical sunsets and majestic elephants.
It was wine tasting in the vineyards of Cape Town and cable car rides to the heights of Table Mountain; lazy, morning, sunrises on the Durban beaches along the Indian Ocean and visits to Townships and Gold Towns of Johannesburg....
An education for the fight for justice when we visited Robben Island and the home of Nelson Mandela. When we sang Bob Marley's Redemption Song, the whole tour group during the walk through the cell where Nelson Mandela spent 27 years.
We have visited a country of resiliance, of power, of beauty, of song!
I want to say THANK YOU JABULAYLA. MY friend for over 20 years. A woman with the most beautiful face and most beautiful voice! I always told her that i will visit her homeland one day.
And I did!
I know Jabu was there with me. I met her children and grandchildren and laughed and enjoyed barbecued and spicy foods in their home.
I love you Andile, Dolly, Bruce, Grandad and all MY grandchildren!
What a blessing it has been for us. Although Jabu was not there in person. She smiled down on us for the entire 14 days. I love you Jabulayla Magagula!
